This exhibition begins from the two years I spent in Bangkok.

​

Across the city’s alleys, hotel lobbies, temple grounds, and café tables,
the tropical plants that approached me—strange yet warm—
became the truest language of each day and season I lived there.

​

I recorded those plants through the grain of light,
the texture of their leaves, and the temperature of their colors.
While following the nature before my eyes,
I also sought to capture the air and emotions that lingered within it.

​

Here, in the middle of winter in Seoul,
I hope this space—where the light and flowers of Bangkok bloom again—
offers a moment to pause, to stay, and to look slowly.

​

This exhibition marks the first chapter of Nanyeon’s botanical city series,
“Botanical City,”
and the beginning point of a record that will continue
into the next cities where I will come to stay.

이 전시는 내가 방콕에서 보낸

2년의 시간으로부터 시작됩니다.

 

도시의 길목, 호텔 로비, 사원과 카페의 테이블 위—

낯설지만 따뜻하게 다가온 열대의 식물들은

그곳에서의 하루와 계절을 가장 정확하게 말해주는 언어였습니다.

 

나는 그 식물들을

빛의 결, 잎의 질감, 색의 온도로 기록했습니다.

눈앞의 자연을 따라 그리면서도

그 안에 머문 공기와 감정을 함께 담고자 했습니다.

 

서울의 겨울 한가운데서,

방콕의 빛과 꽃이 다시 피어나는 이 공간이

잠시 머물며 천천히 바라보는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.

 

이 전시는 난연의 보타니컬 도시 연작

‘Botanical City’의 첫 장이며,

앞으로 내가 머무르게 될 또 다른 도시들로 이어질 기록의 출발점입니다.
